Texmate meters equipped with ethernet use a device made by Lantronix called an XPort. This is what the ethernet port on the back of your Tiger Controller is. In order to use your Tiger controller on the network you will need to either find out the IP address (it is usually automatically assigned on most networks), or set a specific IP address for advanced usage.
Manually assign an IP address
- To manually assign a specific IP address watch this video by Lantronix.
Find an automatically assigned IP address
- Download the Lantronix "Device Installer" software to your PC.
- Install the Device Installer software you just downloaded.
- Connect your Tiger series meter to your network. This is as easy as plugging one end of an ethernet cable into your router or switch and the other end into your Tiger controller. If you are inexperienced with basic networks, then watch this video on YouTube: How to set up a wired network.
- Turn on the Tiger Controller.
- Start the Device Installer software on your PC. It will automatically scan your network and auto detect your Tiger Controller.
- Write down the IP address of your device (shown on the right hand side), you will need it later.
Now that you have the IP address you can use it in your applications, or in the Texmate Configuration Utility or Texmate Data Viewer for configuring your Tiger Controller.
If you are having difficulty in finding your device, the video by Lantronix has some tips.
